What you'll need for your application

Requirements vary slightly by visa type. Every application needs a passport scan and photo meeting exact government specifications — we check both before filing.

Important: Every document must exactly follow the specifications below — format, file size, background, and framing. Applications with non-compliant documents are liable to be rejected by the Indian government, and the visa fee is non-refundable regardless of outcome. When in doubt, send us your documents and we'll check them before anything is submitted.

Core documents, all visa types

Passport & photo

  • Scanned bio-data page of your passport, showing your photograph and personal details clearly
  • Passport must have at least 6 months' validity from your travel date, with at least 2 blank pages
  • A recent, front-facing passport-style photograph
  • Scanned copies of any previously-used passport pages showing old visa stamps or travel history, if applicable
By visa type

Additional documents required

e-Tourist Visa

  • Passport bio page and photo (as above) — no extra documents needed for standard tourism
  • For short-term courses: a letter from the institute/organisation on its letterhead
  • For short-term voluntary work: a letter from the organisation on its letterhead

e-Business Visa

  • Passport bio page and photo
  • Copy of your business card, or a letter from your company including its India-side contact details
  • Letter of invitation from the Indian party you intend to do business with (optional, but strengthens your application)

e-Medical Visa

  • Passport bio page and photo
  • Letter from the hospital in India on its letterhead, including the tentative admission/treatment date, your name, nationality, and passport number

e-Medical Attendant Visa

  • Passport bio page and photo
  • Must be applied alongside (or after) an e-Medical Visa application — maximum two attendant visas per patient
